- Designed and built on a hand-shaped, downturned last by Fred Nicole, ROAM Rigid is a semi-stiff slipper developed with Jason Momoa as part of the So iLL x On The Roam collection. ROAM Rigid features a three-way stretch knit entry with an elastic band stitched to a durable, comfortable, unlined vegan microsuede upper. This shoe is tensioned from under the toe to the back of the heel while the laser etched rand generates tension as well. The midsole is composed of a thin proprietary fiberboard with a center cut out for the flexibility/edging. The outsole is split and outfitted with Vibram XS Grip Rubber which extends in a wide band to the top of the heel. ROAM Rigid is ideal for all types of angles and perfect for those who like a sensitive slipper with a little more support (than ROAM Soft). This shoe is also more adaptable to sport climbing with good edging and great heel/toe hooking abilities. It is, perhaps, the best shoe in our lineup, to date, for edging overall.

5 stars. I can't think of anything I really don't like about them. They exceeded my expectations. At first I didn’t like the color, but they're the only shoes I've ever had that multiple people have come up to me asking me about them. 5.10 had the "pinks," so what.
I purchased them to replace my Evolv Addict slippers, but they are actually a rather different shoe. The Addict I was using indoors for building foot strength since they lack a midsole and are soft, but these Roam Rigids don't fill that shoe per se. Rather than a fully soft sole, they are an interesting combo of a stiff-ish half sole with very flexible arch and with an intermediate stiffness rubber (XS Grip). So, they lack sensitivity, which is expected from a stiffer shoe, but if you're used to climbing in a stiff shoe like the TC Pro, it's not a big deal to adjust and it's for the trade-off of edging real well instead.
Other things I like about them:
- I don't feel any seams inside and the interior is velvety and comfortable
- They broke-in to fit well after 2 sessions
- They're snug around the arch and heel
- They have artwork on them
- They're very light and pack down. I could see them being very useful for alpine routes where you're hiking in a very long approach in mountain boots/crampons and need a rock shoe for a just a small portion of the overall route that isn’t taking up much space in the pack and is very light. e.g. Tomyhoi Peak
I've used them on a variety of terrain: indoor and outdoor bouldering including some overhanging, indoor and outdoor slab to vert face climbs, and indoor splitter cracks from fingers to fist, and an outdoor handcrack. They've performed well and I haven't noticed any limitations. They're pretty comfy on cracks and didn’t see any premature wear on the uppers from jamming. They even did OK in an offwidth, although maybe not ideal for miles of it. I haven't tested them on heel-hooking but they're snug enough to likely hold all but aggressive heels like I've experienced with other slippers. They're a little baggy on top of the forefoot, but held a toe-hook well enough, and I don't see much of an issue with it. I'm most impressed by their edging performance and they work well for those moves on indoor walls where the route lacks a foot jib and you have to just paste on the wall.
I bought them in my street shoe size for a comfort fit. They were too tight for that at first, but after breaking-in they're acheiving that.
It may be an interesting experiment to put a firm rubber like XS Edge on something like this and test it on thin face climbs, especially granite.
There is a little sumthin' sumthin' to having a stiff half-sole with flexible arch that I haven't figured out how to describe. It adds mobility to the foot while edging. A bit like having a hoof.

Great comfy shoes. I ordered a size that wouldn't be tight and had zero break in period. However, due to the nature of the slip on, heel hooks require more attention. Overall very happy with the quality and the style.
Super nice rubber and very comfortable! The shoes also slip on and off seamlessly.
super tactile and sturdy on the rocks. took a few sessions to break in and now are amazing. i sized up 1.5 sizes from my daily shoe.
